i had originally planned to start my cooking "career" by first mastering a simple dish - porridge.
and mind you, i want to cook until the cj sort of texture okay.

but no.
look what i cooked for myself for dinner just now.

unagi + egg + onion + tofu.
the rice is at the bottom.
i used this plastic bowl because i had to microwave the cooked rice and that's the safest container around.

there goes my first try at cooking something decent. (haha i couldn't even crack an egg properly when i was young so this is pretty much a big feat for me. i've never, ever cooked anything else other than during home econs lesson and maggie mee.)
and it turned out pretty delicious! :D

i think i've might have a talent in cooking, it's in the blood.
my dad's a great cook, and so is my eldest sister.
and i take after the both of them in every aspect:
- very implusive
- very loud
- anyhow spend money
- have many friends (much more than my second sister and mom)
- likes going out
- likes eating
- likes watching documentaries
- likes watching movies
- and we're all born in the year of the Dragon. what are the odds?!

dad and sis both like to cook. dad specializes in jap food, sis specializes in angmoh food. she'll cook pancakes from scratch and have blueberry syrup and strawberry and banana toppings. she'll use vanilla pods instead of vanilla essence. and she bakes awesome banana cakes. just tonight she went for a course held by raffles hotel to learn how to make lobster soup and some other dishes, she's pretty serious about this whole cooking thing.

actually dad cooks almost anything. steak (which rocks), jap curry, udon/soba, grilled fish.. lotsa stuff. and he'll arrange them like how restaurants do - nicely on a big tray: the main, a cup of juice, a cup of soup, salad, sometimes fruits, condiments such as chilli sauce/mayo/pepper etc - but not on the tray, on the table. oh we've got the sizzling pan thingy (the ones that you use at jack's place) so he'll put the steak on it and add veggies like broccoli and carrots. awesome stuff. don't know where he learnt them from; the jap dishes are all from japan when he stayed there for a full one year when he was young. (needless to say, he speaks fluent jap. he had no proper education for it, therefore it's sometimes ungrammatical and slightly hard to understand. but his jap friends can understand him so i guess it's no big deal.) ok slightly relevant to my mods this sem: i think he went to japan when he was 16. for boys puberty comes sightly later than girls so i guess he was reaching the end of the critical period for acquiring another language but it still didn't stop him from becoming fluent in it.

my second sis, on the other hand, takes after my mom.
they like to:
- stay at home
- watch dramas (HK and Korean)
- save money
- think about saving money
- think about saving more money

mom likes to cook too, but when she cooks it seems that she has to take lotsa effort i don't know why. therefore she rarely cooks cos of work and troublesome-ness. but her food's nice.

maybe the saying is right that you'll look for a guy who's similar to your dad. (heard it from peace.) i really want to marry a guy who can cook. (LIKE KIM RAE WON IN "THE GRAND CHEF" THANKS.)

ok, belli motivated to cook as well as them now!
