my aunts and cousins came over for the cny dinner. we had a long table of food. 2 steamboats, 2 hotplates, ONE SOCKET.
science 1101: what happens when you overload a single socket? there you have it.
ILLUSTRATION 1: the red crosses are socket points. the red crosses with blue circles are sockets that cannot be used right now.
as you can see, the living room has 4 sockets. the first one fused, so we tried a second one and the same thing happened. then the power to the aircon got cut off too. finally, some smart soul decided to have 2 appliances to a socket. so 2 sockets saved.
but for some reason, I think the ones in the room got affected. (any mechanics would like to explain this to me?) so ALL the sockets in the TWO rooms could not be used. imagine my horror.
well we could not touch the "tv" socket cos it's way too far from the rooms. so we connected extensions after extensions and the purple lines you see are extension wires to the respective rooms. so both room's electricity now runs on a single socket, from the living room.
ILLUSTRATION 2:
a zoom in on my room's wires.
damn jialat right. I tell you, if that socket from the living room dies. I can be a cave woman already.
luckily there's nobody visiting my house, it's gonna be so awkward with wires lying everywhere and a spoilt master aircon.
